Updated Membership Packages & Pricing

From April 1st 2025, as discussed and agreed at the Club AGM last month, there are a few key changes to membership packages that will apply when you next renew. Be that on April 1st, or later on in the year if you joined in a later month.

We’re simplifying the packages both in terms of the categories, but also the payment structure and accepted methods to make things simpler and fairer and reduce the admin for members and the membership secretary.

Details of the changes are below.

Payment Changes

  • All memberships will auto renew every 12 month

  • Memberships can be paid for in full in advance or monthly in 12 payments instead of 9.

  • There is no longer a 5% surcharge on monthly payments

  • We are no longer be accepting membership payments via cheque, cash or manual bank transfer. Membership payments only accepted via monthly bank direct debit, or annual direct debit payment.

  • You’re in full control. Cancel auto renewal or membership at any point.*

Auto Renewals

By default, when you next renew, your memberships will be set to auto renew every 12 months. Assuming you want to stay as a member each year, you don’t need to do anything and membership payment will continue to be paid monthly or on the anniversary of your joining date if selecting annual payment.

You have complete control of this, will be sent reminders ahead of any automated renewal and you can cancel this auto renewal at any time via clubspark, or by asking the membership secretary. The major benefit is that you will only ever have to log into clubspark to renew your membership one more time.

This is a significant reduction in admin for members as well as the membership secretary in not issuing renewals and reminders throughout the year.

No Monthly Payment Surcharge

Following feedback on these changes at the AGM last month - All members will continue to have the choice to pay for membership in full in advance, as well as now monthly over 12 months instead of 9. And we are no longer adding a 5% surcharge on monthly payments. Reducing the total as well as monthly cost for those that did pay monthly previously.
The club will absorb the slight increase in processing fees in order to make things clear, simple and fair for incoming and existing members who wish to pay monthly instead of annually.

Accepted Payment Method

In order to deliver both of these, we will no longer be accepting membership payments via cheque, cash or manual bank transfer. All of these methods cause significant additional admin for members and committee members across the course of the year, with cash and cheques needing to be paid in branch around work and family commitments and bank transfers occasionally failing and causing problems.

All new memberships and existing member renewals must be done via clubspark and direct debit. As mentioned, when you next renew you will have the choice to set this up to be monthly, or an annual payment and will be set up in one simple process when you next renew via the email links sent to you from clubspark.

If anyone still has any clubspark access issues or is struggling to renew, please let me know and I will happy to assist.

Full control over payments

If you are on annual payments, you can cancel the auto-renewal at any time and end your membership at the end of that year. And if you are on monthly payments, you are in full control and can cancel the payments and cease membership at any time via your bank, or by asking the membership secretary.

*As mentioned, you can cancel your annual auto-renewal or monthly payments at any time if you want to leave the club. But to prevent abuse of the system in bringing these improvements to our members, there will be a £100 rejoining fee to rejoin within 12 months of a cancellation.

Making it Easier for Families

A new category for couples has been introduced with a discount versus 2 individual memberships. To be eligible, you must live at the same address as payment is taken from one bank account.

If you are currently a Full Adult member of the club and your partner also wishes to join, please contact the membership secretary to apply.

And for those members with children - Gone are the complicated and endless possible list of packages for Adult + 1 Junior, 2 Adult + 3 Juniors etc… Under 18s are included for free on a Full Adult Membership without the need to enter their details on clubspark. Children under 15 may however only use club facilities with their adult parent/guardian member present.

The category for Junior members who wish to be members on their own without a Parent/Guardian as a Full Adult Member of the club, is now 15-17. Parent/Guardians will still need to be the ones to register their Juniors in order to set up payment.  Contact the membership secretary to apply.

One Social Membership

The two social membership categories (1 for under 80s and 1 at 50% off for over 80s) have been merged into one £30 annual membership that can be paid either monthly or annually. The decision to remove the 50% discounted version for the over 80s, whilst may be disappointing to some, we feel reflects the continued investment the club is making to the off-court facilities, the events we run and the value those bring to tennis and social members of all ages.

Staying the same

We still have the option for Full access or Midweek access as well as discounts for Students and Veteran players aged 80+.
